The Importance of Subtle Moving and Weight;
Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis (NEAT):

This link will take you to a research study from the Mayo Clinic discussing how simple movements have dramatic effects on our weight. We often don't think that the dishwasher or lawnmower can impact our weight in such a big way. Even more interesting is the idea that chemicals in our body are also affecting our spontaneous physical movements and I'm not talking about twitching! Can learning how to control them help us lose weight? This abstract is filled with "sciencey" jargon-words, but if you just read the section titled "NEAT and environment" you will get some excellent, interesting and understandable information.

My favorite part is at the very end when the author reccomends to his fellow scientists:
"Having read this abstract, please get up and take a short walk down the corridor (or similar). Repeat for each abstract you read. Please let me know how it went."

I bet the especially nerdy egg-heads (like myself) would lose some good weight within a week!

One of my patients who had never struggled with her weight began to have issues after she became affluent. Hiring cleaning ladies, landscapers, painters and movers was a luxury that silently packed on the pounds over the course of several years.

Cookie Monster Goes Healthy!

Below is a YouTube Clip of a Sesame Street Music Video of Cookie Monster going healthy. I guess Sesame Street got some pressure on the eating habits of Cookie (ie binge eating carbs laden in fat). Following there was some back lash from the public, in particular skinny people who were die hard Cookie Monster fans!
